Eventually I will figure out how to load the pictures from my phone so that I can post a picture of Christine on the first day also.

Battle of the Books and Academics Award
This week Maggie and her team squeaked out a spot in the district finals for Battle of the Books. They had missed a question in the first round of questions, so they battled with another school for the last qualifying spot. They had to answer 12 tie-breaker questions correct to win the last spot! Excuse the picture, I only had my phone with me.
Christine and her friend, Gianna, were among the students honored at her high school for having a 4.0 or above. It was amazing to see that 20% of the seniors were there. Quite an achievement!

Spring Break
Our last weekend of spring break was a busy one! The Staats arrived on Friday and shortly after headed up to the pool for some fun. Saturday morning started bright and early with an 8:30 soccer game.
A quick stop at home and then we were off to watch Christine run the prelims for the 400 meter.
She qualified and broke 60 seconds! And she set the school record! Pretty amazing for a freshman! (That 59.39 is her time.)
She broke 60 again in the finals for a 7th place showing and her 1600 meter relay team placed 3rd. You would think after all that everyone would've been tired...not a chance!
I finally had to kick the kids off the trampoline at 11:30. We didn't want to upset any neighbors. They were all still playing Wii when the parents went to bed!
Sunday was time for hanging out with the cousins.

Soccer
Maggie's soccer team, "The Mighty Ninjas", played up an age group this season. It would not be such a big deal except they are a 12U team and they moved up to the 13/14U group. So, "little" Maggie, who is already one of the youngest in her age group because of when the cutoff date is, played against girls that go to school with Christine. Her team definitely did not win every game, but they hung with those older girls and made them work for their win. They even won 4 games.
Here is just one example of the size difference.

This girl hung on for a while on Tuesday for her meet. The biggest problem was her family was yelling to her in Spanish. No fair! Maggie and Christine were laughing on the car ride home because her family kept on yelling "Andale...Andale" I think if you are going to yell at a meet you need to do it so that we can all understand what you are saying! I guess it's time for me to learn some more Spanish.

Susan G. Komen 10/10/10
Sunday morning we woke the kids up early to be at our friend's house by 6:15. We had to get outfitted in our pink for the Susan G. Komen walk. Suzanne, our friend and mom of Christine's best friend, is a breast cancer survivor.
The girls all ready to go. Suzanne had bought pink hairspray thinking Andrew would wear it...but to our suprise he wanted nothing to do with it!
The adults.
There were over 30,000 people at the Phoenix Race for the Cure.
Our gang on the walk....Andrew, Maggie and Morgan (Suzanne's daughter) only asked about 10 times each the dreaded question-"How much further?" They all made the 3.1 mile walk...Andrew was piggy-backed for some of it.

Happy Birthday to Christine!
Christine was not happy that on her birthday Maggie and Andrew only had to go to school for half the day.
I put them to work icing cookies. I had baked the sugar cookies in the morning while they were at school. Then when they got home I gave them paint brushes and they painted the cookies orange.

After they dried some I used black icing to make them look like basketballs. We took them to Christine's practice for the girls.
