Coronado Island

We headed to Coronado Island for the 4th to get out of the heat for a few days-and boy did we get out of the heat! Here are the girls (Maggie, Kylie, Taylor, and Christine) our first night heading to dinner-notice the sweatshirts. I don't think it got above 70 degrees the whole time we were there! It was so nice! From where we stayed we could walk to dinner every night. There was a path along the water and the adults would walk and the kids would skateboard, ripstick, scooter or bike. They loved it!

Because the 4th fell on Sunday this year, the parade was on Saturday the 3rd. The parade there was much, much different from our little parades in North Canton. This was much longer and had tons of military. It was pretty cool, but VERY long.

While the parade was still going on, the kids decided to get some energy out.

Finally, the adults had had enough of the parade too. We headed back to the hotel and then drove to the beach on the other side of the island. The water was FREEZING! ( I know...I stuck my feet in!) I can not believe how long the kids played in the water! They came out like ice cubes! Here are Taylor, Christine and Maggie heading out to brave the waves.

A little pow wow with the boys...not sure what negotiations were going on here...

Andrew showing his strength...

Our "camp"

This kept the kids busy for at least an hour...

Our little diggers...

Steve and Chuck couldn't let the kids be the only ones to brave the water...

All the kids Saturday night for dinner...Andrew is next to Christine with his head back. This was at Coronado Brewing Company-not sure where the Bula sign came from...

Jennia and I ran a 5k race Sunday morning. This is pre-race with us still chilly.

The start. (We could have opted for a 15k, but we took advantage of the easier run.)
Me during the race.

During the day poolside. Andrew's sunglasses were a birthday gift for me from the Penningtons.

The boys in the sandbox.

The girls playing chess poolside.
We were only about an hour from Andrea, so she came to see us on the 4th.
San Diego nightline before the fire works started.

The fireworks....ooooh....awwww....
